• With some trepidation, I visited the newly renamed Famous Escape Rooms in Van Nuys. Located just off the 405 (at Burbank) it was easy to find and there is plenty of parking. A fellow enthusiast suggested it and I'm glad she did. Mistaken Identity starts with a GM in an office. He explained the backstory and lead us to a non-descript door. Inside, the room was cluttered (deliberately so) and we started our quest to find... something and straighten out this mistaken identity situation. With multiple (sometimes unexpected) rooms, the production was decent and enjoyable. But what I liked most about Mistaken Identity is that the puzzles were logical. Nothing ground breaking in terms of technology or creativity, but the puzzles fit the theme of the room and they made sense! There were also a few 'ah-ha' moments and even when we needed hints, we were kicking ourselves for not figuring it out on our own. This is the way all puzzles should be. There were a couple of tech hiccups along the way but overall a fun and smooth experience. It's a bit on the challenging side and beginners might struggle a little. For me this room ranks #43 out of 91 and if you are in the area, I recommend it.

• Don't let the jewelry and coin location fool you. Or the mid 80s decor or the unflattering fluorescent lighting. This place has a fun room in Mistaken Identity and it's worth coming the travel time to get here.
  
  The room started a bit late because there's only one gamemaster and only one pair of walkie talkies. Perhaps invest in a new pair so you don't delay the next group. A few red herrings in but the room was quite well done with mostly sensor locks. I love that they use tech in this low brow setting of a messy bachelor pad apartment. All the puzzles made sense and the story flowed throughout the space.

• What an awesome room! Mistaken identity was fun and exciting and my girls were thrilled. A very fun and special activity for family and friends.
