These are the attribute of Breakout Games as a corporation and specifically their Virginia Beach location.
The general manager at this store- Keyontaye(Key) has a history of misconduct and acting inappropriate with the employees of this location with no regard for visitors and paying customers at this location.
He acts sexual towards his female employees, preys on underage workers, selects individuals that are his “type” to hire and gives them special treatment. He grooms underage workers and forces them to sit on his lap, give him hugs, and touch them in other ways that makes the employees uncomfortable.
He has also described in detail in front of his staff how he wants to feel what it would like to kill someone. Mentioning in great detail how he wants to hold someone’s face in a fryer and feel them struggling for their life.
He put personal cameras throughout the building in Breakout and used them to monitor and harass female employees.
This behavior was brought up to leadership and they initially dismissed accusations and refused to take the accusations seriously. Once we provided proof of these statements, multiple employees came forward to validate these accusations, and multiple employees gave statements to the Vice President of breakout Jimmy Doyle.
He agreed to come meet in person to listen to these statements, but continued to invalidate these employees feelings and their eye witness statements of these behaviors.
Jimmy “reassured” employees that Key was “just kidding” and that his behavior shouldn’t be taken so seriously. He dismissed a female employees story saying she needed to handle the issues with Key (the general manager) 1 on 1.
Breakout Games became aware of this behavior and took no action to put the general manager on leave, suspend him, take efforts to ensure the female employees felt safe, or ensure they were not alone with Key.
Leadership from the parent company orange perspective was contacted as well (Jason Thompson) and he dismissed the situation as well.
A male employee reached out to Jason and gave a personal account of the violence and harassment he experienced working at this company and Jason dismissed these concerns as well. Jason responded to the male employee and asked what the employee wanted jason to do about the situation. The employee responded with suggestions on how to handle the situation, including sexual harassment training, course refreshers, other additional training and terminating the GMs employment. Jason promptly replied stating that what we’re not going to do is make demands. & continued to dismiss all concerns from employees and take no action.
The final decision was that the General Manager- Key would get some additional training and “have a close eye on him” for the next 6 months.
Which is less of a punishment than being late to work or no call no showing.
Multiple employees have now quit due to this behavior and i urge all potential customers to stay as far away as you can from Breakout Operations, Orange Perspective, and any of the company affiliated with Jimmy Doyle and Jason Thompson.
