From creepy themes to chilling thrillers and to horror movies with actors involved, you can decide just how scared you want to be when trying to make a successful escape! Most of the rooms aren't actually meant to scare you too much, just remember: your objective is to escape with your life. Ghosts, zombies and serial killers of San Francisco are dying to meet you!
Our team did the Paranormal Room! Our host was Elizabeth and she was an excellent guide! I have never participated in a group like this. It was challenging, engaging and fun and zap times scary!!!! I would recommend this Room for others to try. Builds teamwork in a fun way!!!Rita
I loved this escape room! My friend and I joined another group of six and they came really late so our game master let us start early and they even offered to step in if a puzzle required more than 2 people which was really nice of them! Eventually our team eventually did show up so we didn't end up needing any help.Ashley
We did the paranormal room and the production value was great! But it is very dark and you're only lit by the flashlights you're given so be prepared for that. Though it is creepy, it isn't too scary so besides from the occasional loud noise, you shouldn't be expecting any jump scares. And also you get unlimited hints, so that's great, our game master was very helpful and we definitely made use of those hints. Some puzzle do require things to be just right when you do them so that did lead to a bit of confusion in different parts. But other than that it was great and a lot of creepy fun! We got out with just a minute to spare!
Pretty solid escape room, we did the Paranormal activity themed room and were able to escape with a group of 8.Andrew
The price is pretty standard compared to other rooms in the area but I felt like the puzzles were well thought out for the most part here, and the production value of the room was a little better than my other experiences in the city.
We tried the Trapped in the Circus room. The location is definetely sketchy. The good thing was that the "ringmaster" was standing behind the gate in plain sight, so we knew we were in the right place! My friend and I ended up playing with 4 other strangers. The experience was still great even though we were only 10 seconds away from escaping!Kristi
I don't want to give too much away, but just a heads up that this room is only 40 minutes long, with only one room to play in. I'm used to 1 hour long escape rooms and multiple rooms, so it was a bit underwhelming. The puzzles are not too difficult. I enjoyed how sequential the puzzles were, and how they all fit in really well with the theme of the room. The "ringmaster" was in the room with us, taking down notes of who did what, as well as providing a hint when he saw we were missing an essential piece of the picture.
I'd recommend taking Uber/Lyft here as I wouldn't trust parking my car in this sketchy area. I found it odd that the actor asked for tips at the very end; never encountered that before! Regardless, it was a fun experience and I'd be down to come back if they have other games besides the zombie room!
6 of my friends and I went to Beyond Escape for my husband's bday, to do the Trapped in the Circus room. Our Ringmaster / narrator explained the process to us, nametagged us, and trapped us in a room. I can divulge no details, but we had fun, and we escaped! It was entertaining and nervewracking. I enjoyed myself and will go back to see if I can destroy the zombie room too!Lisa
